One Week Later

Well, it's been a week since we got the Wacom Cintiq, and I think because of that, it's also been a week since Dave has seen natural light.

Over the past seven days, Dave has created a surprising number of pieces. I'm sure we can chalk part of that up to how the Cintiq can streamline the creative process, but I should point out that I firmly believe, despite what Dave says, that he hasn't removed himself from the screen for seven days.

In short, he's on a roll. The muse is there, so why deny it?

But there's more that's new and noteworthy. Read on!

Hopefully we can post some new images soon, but the two of us are kicking around the idea of creating a short illustrated narrative to accomplish a few things:

  1. It would be a test of the artist's creative mettle, and force him to push the boundaries with the Cintiq.
  2. It would allow us to dip our toes into the realm of the published (if we're that lucky).

The project would be an epic poem, and something totally separate from the four-part graphic novel that we have been working on over the past several years (and no, Tim will not be translating it into old English, despite his affinity for Beowulf).

Finally, a quick note regarding last week's post: who is this guy?

This unhappy looking fellow is Obrim Kesgarr, and we were kind enough to caption the first line of the first book.

"Kigh will go to war over this..."

Don't worry, this isn't a promise we're breaking. Obrim says there could be a war, and there is one. Perhaps in some future posts we can reveal more, like who "Kigh" is in the story, and how exactly the war starts.
